Zik Igbadi Boniwe is a management consultant, natural resources governance specialist, and nonprofit leader with professional experience spanning the public, private, and nonprofit sectors in the United States and Nigeria. His work focuses on sustainable natural resources management, public policy, governance, organizational development, consumer protection, and institutional strengthening.
He spent much of his early life under the guidance of his grandfather, His Royal Majesty, Obi John Ezechie I (MON), THE Obi (King of Ewulu Kingdom) whose leadership, wisdom, and commitment to justice profoundly influenced his character, decision-making, and approach to conflict resolution and public service.
He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of the State of New York, a master’s degree in business/organizational management from the University of Phoenix, Arizona, USA, and a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in International Natural Resources Law and Policy from the University of Dundee, Faculty of Law and Accountancy, Dundee, Scotland, United Kingdom.
Throughout his career, Mr. Boniwe has served in several government positions in the United States. His public service experience includes appointments as Program Coordinator with the California Department of Developmental Services; Associate Governmental Program Analyst in the Policy and Compliance Unit of the California Department of Health Care Services; Associate Governmental Program Analyst in the Office of the State Long-Term Care Ombudsman at the California Department of Aging; and Program Operations Specialist with the State of New York.
Mr. Boniwe served as Director of Programs at the African Network for Environment and Economic Justice (ANEEJ), where he worked with oil-producing communities in Nigeria's Niger Delta to promote transparency, accountability, and effective legislation governing the management of the constitutionally mandated 13 percent derivation revenue allocated to oil-producing states.
He is also the Chief Executive Officer of Mazik Resources International Nigeria Limited, where he provides consultancy services in natural resources management, organizational development, and strategic planning.
His Commitment to advancing consumer rights and public accountability, led Mr. Boniwe to found the Mazik Foundation for Consumer Rights (Nigeria) and the Mazik Foundation for Consumer Rights Inc. (New York), a United States 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Through these organizations, he promotes consumer protection, financial literacy, public education, policy advocacy, and institutional capacity building, particularly for vulnerable and underserved communities.
Drawing on multidisciplinary academic training and practical experience across government, civil society, and private enterprise, Mr. Boniwe combines legal, managerial, and policy perspectives to address complex challenges in sustainable development. His work emphasizes transparency, sustainable resource management, environmental stewardship, responsible investment, community participation, equitable economic development, human rights, economic justice and consumers protection.
